Donna Fletcher never fails to disappoint me. I like my heroes to exist sweet and loving, and she just writes this blazon of hero and so well! Certain, Ronan is grouchy and fifty-fifty hates Carissa at commencement, but somehow, Fletcher has him equally sweet and romantic as his brothers past the midpoint of the story. I love that even though the leads frequently butt heads, neither is outright disrespectful or does or says annihilation that is unforgivable.
I think it'southward pretty clear that I loved Ronan, and Carissa was an exceptional grapheme also. She was then complex and the layers of her personality go understandable as we learn her motives.
The Sinclare association plays a big office in this story. All of the characters feel so familiar by this volume, it's similar seeing old friends again. I'm not sure if this was the final book in the series, but if in that location are more, I will exist certain to read them too.
While this wasn't my favorite book by Donna Fletcher, it still lives up to what I have come to expect from her as an author- A super sweet romantic story with a hero who has that really rare mix of strength and tenderness. He'south head over heels for this woman and he's not agape to show it!

I feel similar this was a skilful conclusion to this companion series.
I really wish that there were more books to this series though!
The hero is non the typical blastoff male person you lot usually see in such books. He is of course a warrior merely has a soft heart. He was tortured in the heroin's home by her father. I started the volume with peachy enthusiasm, of grade. All the raving reviews. I finished the book feeling rather disappointed. it is not a bad book. Only information technology is not the wonderful story I was led to believe. The hero is not the typical alpha male person you commonly meet in such books. He is of course a warrior only has a soft centre. He was tortured in the heroin'south dwelling house past her begetter. She acted similar a bitch to everyone, knowing that whenever she showed any tenderness toward anything or anybody, the object of her affection would suffer at the hand of her male parent. Heroin helped the hero in his imprisonment anonymously. He barbarous in honey with her, not knowing who she was, simply knowing her by a fake proper name given past the heroin. He escaped, not knowing that he owed his escape to the heroin and believing that the woman he barbarous in love with was killed considering of the heroin. He made a vow to avenge his lost beloved by killing the heroin. Then of course hero and heroin met, more lies, more struggles, they were even trapped together in a motel, and then finally the large a-ha moment: it was you??
I mean the plot line was rather cool. But I could non become interested in them. The chemistry is off between them. I don' especially like their intimate scenes, nor am I convinced that the hero savage in love with the heroin after his bitter realization that his lost love, only not lost and was his enemy.
The biggest problem for me was I was not able to class an emotional attachment to the principal characters. Other than that the story was ok and the writing ok besides. I won't go as far equally saying that it is a bad story because it is dandy. But I cannot say that I enjoyed it either. So solid three stars.
...moreA beautiful read :)
I loved this story and then and then sooooo much!! More than both Artair'southward and Lachlan's story simply non as much as the first i ;) a great catastrophe to the series :) the brothers uniting with the women they dearest and even their mother having found a new one :) captivating stories.. loved how those two struggled to get where they are at the cease!!A beautiful read :)
...more thanI think this one and the showtime ane in the series were my favourites, i tin't choose between them.
Ronan and Carissa had an amazing chemistry, i simply loved them together, and that tension at the begginning was then appealling to me.
Carissa alone is admittedly fantastic! I really really loved her and felt for her. She went through so much...I'm happy that in the end she was able to find honey and comfort, she deserved it! 4.25 stars!

It would have been easier for me to relate if the author had written more of when Ronan was captured and taken care of by Carissa. Every bit the author only wrote a curt part of it, I found it hard to believe the romance.
This was a enemies to lover
This was better than book ii and 3 but something felt missing. Perchance it was the falling in honey part. I establish it hard to like Carissa because her words were strong and soft at unlike times and I institute that aspect of her confusing as well as hard to honey. It would have been easier for me to relate if the author had written more of when Ronan was captured and taken care of past Carissa. Every bit the author merely wrote a brusque function of it, I institute it difficult to believe the romance.
This was a enemies to lovers book and I somewhat enjoyed it more than Lachlan'due south volume which focused too much on the nuns and whatsoever they were doing. I enjoyed about 3/4 of this book before the last five chapters kinda bored me due to the activity.
I too didn't like how Ronan couldn't keep his hands and body off Carissa before he figured out his truthful feelings for Carissa.
It's sad because i really wanted to discover out more most Ronan since he's been missing for 3 books already. Unfortunately, I enjoyed book 1 more than the other books in this series. Merely I liked that we saw the other couples from the previous books in this book with their children. It was heartwarming.
The author did hint that Ronan and Carissa would have a child merely we never did see it happen. Information technology would have been nice if the author did write an epilogue every bit this volume is the last of the series and at that place would be no 'continuation/epilogue' of the previous book in the next book, which the writer did for the showtime three books.

IT'Southward NOT LIKE I DISLIKED THIS STORY Only IT CERTAINLY DIDN'T KEPT ME PACING OR TERRIBLY EXCITED TO Finish IT.HERO believes the heroine to be a conniving, mean bowwow becuase she killed the woman he loved - the i who took care of him while he was in captivity. Ronan only seemed...I don't know...childish, judgemental and quick to jump to conclusions. Though i tin't arraign him if you were presented the same facts he was, duped by a smart heroine.
HEROINE was more than meets the eye and information technology won't take a genius to put 2 and two, realising that she's the woman the Hero fell in love with while he was momentarily blinded. It took years for her to mask her true self and information technology wasn't hard for Carissa to brand others believe what they want of her.
OVERALL it dragged on a fleck too much without much of a drive holding the reins of the story. Characters were boilerplate, the chemistry while was written, didn't felt real or cosmic.

I actually liked this story. Information technology was then dissimilar from what I have read previously. The whole story line of our male pb having plans to kill the female lead because of had happened to him and the woman who he fell in love with. (Who all along was our female lead)
I loved the angst at the beginning while they were stuck in the cabin because of the weather condition. Information technology was a five star read for me at that bespeak.
Why the 4 stars?
I got a little bored towards the stop. I wanted more angst and romance.
Simply I will say that Carissa was such a badass graphic symbol. What she survived and how she had no fear. Loved information technology!!
...more thanI decided to read all 4 books in the serial as I dearest Donna's books every unmarried volume serial she writes..these Scottish highlands people had a hard trigger-happy life but she makes family and love come up through..she makes you visualise the land, the keeps the villages, the fights ....Donna doesn't disappoint....she delivers a tin can't put down book.
I thought that this was the strongest book in the series and I enjoyed it the almost! Ronan was a strong character equally was his protagonist! Her beauty added to the paradox.
This story was all over the place!
The beginning half focus on the detest to love irksome romance, and the 2nd half start with some fight between mercenaries and random attacks...
The savagery!!

While amend than book 3 well-nigh Lachlan, this book is supposed to be the penultimate of the series. This is the book where nosotros learn what happened to Ronan... and discover the meaning to Behthane's riddle to the Sinclares about "notice Carissa, daughter of the barbaric and you'll find Ronan". 3-three.5 starsWhile ameliorate than book three near Lachlan, this book is supposed to be the penultimate of the series. This is the volume where we learn what happened to Ronan... and discover the significant to Behthane's riddle to the Sinclares nearly "find Carissa, daughter of the barbarian and you'll find Ronan". Except that, for the most part, the story is predictable from the 1st folio. Instead of edifice up to the mysterious reasons why Ronan wouldn't render home, it practically bludgeons us from the first chapter.
The Sinclare brothers (Cavan, Artair, and Lachlan) are traveling to the village Blackness, abode of Bethane, to endeavor to find out more nigh Ronan. Ronan had been in village Blackness and his numerous wounds attended to by Bethane and Zia (Artair'due south wife); but Ronan left mysteriously, and only Bethane knows why. Just as usual, Bethane talks in riddles. Then Cavan is determined to go to village Black and go to the bottom of this. It'due south been over 2 years since Ronan'due south capture past the barbarians, and Cavan however feels some guilt and responsibleness for non being able to free his youngest brother.
Upon nearing village Black, they encounter a hooded stranger... gee, wonder who this is? The stranger's purpose seems to be in getting to village Black earlier the Sinclares, and he does what he can to put obstacles in their way. When the Sinclares finally do arrive, they see him claiming the right to deal with Carissa, daughter of Mordrec the Barbaric - the man responsible for Cavan'due south and Ronan's capture and torture and the death of their begetter, Tavis Sinclare.
The stranger is, of course, Ronan. He, as well, is a man changed by his capture and roughshod imprisonment and torture. Ronan did manage to escape with the help of a slave named Hope - a woman he roughshod in beloved with. When Ronan was commencement taken to the barbarian stronghold, his optics and face were so desperately battered that he couldn't see; Hope helped him to heal and kept his promise for escape and life alive. That's why he named the slave Promise - she told him she had no proper noun, so he gave her a name. But Hope was Carissa'due south slave, and when Ronan escaped, he vowed to render and salvage his love. Except that afterward Carissa sold him to the band of mercenaries (yes, the ane that Alyce and Lachlan encountered in the previous volume with Septimus and the mysterious leader), he was told that Carissa had killed Hope. So Ronan then adamant not to return dwelling house until he'd killed Carissa.
Carissa is under the protection and care of Bethane and the hamlet Black. When the wintertime skies threaten a major snowstorm that would cut off their chance for returning domicile, Cavan tells Ronan that he has the correct to bargain with Carissa, and he and the rest of the Sinclares return home to their children and mother. Bethane helps Carissa escape by telling her of a nearby secluded cottage that has plenty of supplies, despite the weather. Carissa sees the tempest equally her manner to escape Ronan. Except that when he discovers her missing, Bethane tells him of the aforementioned cottage... hmmmmm. Wonder what could be going on here?
Because, of class, Ronan and Carissa notice that neither is quite what the other expected. And Ronan learns that the hole-and-corner to Promise lies with Carissa... is it possible that Carissa and Promise are the same woman? If and then, did Carissa utilize Hope to torment Ronan - to acquire more about his family unit and his secrets? Or is it possible that Carissa is more Hope than barbarian?
Then in that location's the mercenary band nearby, where we learn that ane of the members is the very i who brought the injured, escaped Ronan to village Blackness before. And he'south a long-time friend of Carissa's. Carissa learns that Creagan is nearby and says that he has a spousal relationship contract to consummate with Carissa. Creagan is a wanna-be barbarian... savage, only not nearly equally good equally Carissa's father, Mordrec. Except that Creagan believes a union with Carissa will cement his taking over Mordrec's legacy and wants nothing more than an heir made from his line and Carissa's.
When Ronan takes Carissa back to Sinclare lands to face Cavan's judgement, he'southward torn; Ronan'southward come to almost love Carissa, and he'southward already slept with her. (Yes, again! You'd think that men and women couldn't possibly keep their hands off one some other, especially when quartered in the same cottage!) When he learns of Creagan's coming to claim Carissa, will he let her go?
----------------
I can't aid just curl my eyes... once more, what could and should have been a lovely lilliputian romance with a bear upon of steam devolves into a modernistic tale told in the context of the 16th century. The story might be compelling enough to keep me reading, but I have *not* suspended my disbelief. And why I kept reading is probably more due to my compulsion to finish a volume or a series that I've started more than due to my enjoyment of said book or series. These characters and this overall story could have been rich and full and satisfying. Instead, the author chose to go the like shooting fish in a barrel route and appeal to modern 24-hour interval women's sensibilities and ideas of liberty, justice, independence, and sex.
And it'south such a shame...
